Sing For Fun | Western | Beginners Level

Designed for people who just want to sing and have Fun!
OVIMA works with its students in a holistic way developing the student individually, and not just artistically and musically.

Overview

The course is for students ages 4+ years who want to try it out, and see if they would like to take it further. This Fun course teaches students the basics of singing, and at the same time provides students a platform to explore and discover their voice and themselves in a Fun way.

At the Beginner Level students are taught to sing songs from the Disney, Broadway, Pop and Country / Folk genres of music.

At the end of each session students do a graded performance. At the end of the year, students receive a Certificate of Achievement for the year if they have completed the Beginner requirments and are ready for the Elementary level.

Students also receive a Progress Report at the end of each session indicating the progress they have made from the beginning to the end of the session with respect to technique, performance, class participation, practice, and attendance.

Prerequisites

  • No previous experience is needed.

  • Students who are 4 years and above are able to register for this class.

  • Classes however are divided into batches according to age groups: 4-6; 7-10; 12-17 & 18+ Years

  • For the 4-6 years classes, parents are required to be present.

  • These classes are specially designed for students to learn intro level basics of singing in a FUN manner.

  • Students should have an open mind to learning.

Objectives

  • For students to have some understanding of at least 1-2 areas of technique per session.

  • To learn vocal technique to sing effortlessly, any genre of music.

  • To introduce and expose students to various genres of music including, Pop, Rap, Hip Hop, Broadway, Disney, R&B, Jazz, Latin Music, etc.

  • To make sure students are prepared to sing from memory, and in full performance mode, 1-2 songs they have worked on in their end of session performance.

  • To learn by listening.

Performance Platforms

At the end of each session, students must perform 1-2 songs at the culminating performance. All songs are to be performed from memory, in concert attire, and with expression, connecting with the audience. Parents, family and friends are welcome for all performances. Performances are graded.

Students are additionally provided other platforms to perform such as jam sessions; and seasonal concerts, in promoting OVIMA Global’s constant effort to develop CONFIDENCE & SELF-EXPRESSION in students.

OVIMA Global provides a FREE PRACTICE CLASS once a week where students are able to come together to practice their songs. In the 12-17 and 18+ age groups, one student is chosen each week to facilitate the practice. In the 4-6 & 7-11 age groups junior teachers or student volunteers from the 12-17 or 18+ age groups can facilitate the practice.

Students facilitating classes are able to earn SERVICE POINTS for their schools, and receive a CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE from OVIMA Global. All practice sessions are recorded.

Guidelines

Equipment

  • Laptop / Desktop preferably NOT ipad, tablet, phone
  • Good Broadband Connection
  • Have the Zoom app downloaded to their computer
  • Microphone, Headphones, Amp.
  • Bluetooth speaker or / and additional device to play a track on

Attendance

  • If a student wants to be successful, then he/she must attend their classes regularly as participation and practice are two major components for success. Students / parents are required to notify OVIMA Global and the instructor in advance of any absences.
  • For Sing for Fun Classes there is just one assigned day each month in the Session for Make Up Classes.
  • Students are NOT PERMITTED to miss more than ONE class in the Session.
  • If a student is missing a class the OVIMA office must be informed 24 hours in advance.

Practice

  • Students MUST put in at least 30 mins of practice daily to see the difference from one week to the next.
  • Additionally they are required to send in Practice Videos on the WhatSapp Group Chats so that instructors are able to guide them and constantly monitor their progress in as well as out of the classroom.

Materials

  • Students MUST bring all materials, books to class.
  • Students are responsible for buying their own books suggested by the teacher.
