Play For Fun | Piano | Beginners Level
Play for Fun Beginner Level Piano classes are for students who just want to play an instrument and have Fun! OVIMA works with its students in a holistic way developing the individual, and not just the students, artistic and musical skills.
Overview
These classes are currently held once a week for 45 minutes. OVIMA teachers are located globally, and very highly trained at some of the top most universities in the world. Additionally, all of them have had a performing career or currently are still performing in concert.
Learn the piano, hand and finger numbers, and position on keyboard. Students also learn an exercise and at least 1-2 pieces in the session, and pieces for almost every new term introduced each week in the session. Additionally they learn staff and clefs,lines and spaces, note values,time signatures; steps and skips,counting,review previous materials over the course of a session.

Prerequisites
These Beginner Level classes are specially designed for students to learn the basics of Piano in a FUN manner. A student’s interest in music, and their eagerness to discover and explore their talents are some of the prerequisites. Additionally, students should have an open mind to learning.
Attendance
Participants are expected to be committed members of the class and attend as many meetings as possible. If a student wants to be successful, then he/she must attend their classes regularly as participation and practice are two major components for success. Students / parents are required to notify OVIMA Global and the instructor in advance of any absences. For Play for Fun Piano Classes there is just one assigned day each month in the Session for Make Up Classes. Students are NOT PERMITTED to miss more than ONE class in the Session. If a student is missing a class the OVIMA office must be informed 24 hours in advance.
Equipment
Students must have the following for their class:
– Required Books
– PIANO or a 88 weighted keys keyboard with the soft and sutained pedals.
– Metronome
– Laptop / Desktop preferably NOT ipad, tablet, phone
– Good Broadband Connection
– Have the Zoom app downloaded to their computer
– Microphone, Headphones.
– Bluetooth speaker or / and additional device to play a track on
Practice
Students MUST put in at least 30 mins of practice daily to see the difference from one week to the next. Additionally they are required to send in Practice Videos on the WhatSapp Group Chats so that instructors are able to guide them and constantly monitor their progress in as well as out of the classroom.

Objectives
For students to have some understanding of at least 1-2 areas of technique per session.
To be able to play effortlessly, any genre of music.
To introduce and expose students to various genres of music including, Folk Tunes, Country, Light Rock, Light Jazz, Pop, Blue Grass, Classical, etc.
To make sure students are prepared to play from memory, and in full performance mode, 1 Folk and 1 Pop tune.
To learn by listening.

Performance Platforms
At the end of each session, students must perform at least 2 Sufi songs at the culminating performance. All songs are to be performed from memory, and in concert attire. Students must perform with expression, connecting with the audience. Parents, family and friends are welcome for all performances. Performances are graded.
Students are additionally provided other platforms to perform such as Jam Sessions; Seasonal Concerts; and Voice Performance Seminars in promoting OVIMA Global’s constant effort to develop CONFIDENCE & SELF-EXPRESSION and overall performance in students. Students are able to perform for NO EXTRA COST.
OVIMA Global provides FREE PRACTICE CLASSES twice a week where students are able to come together to practice their songs. In the 10-17 and 18+ age groups, one student is chosen each week to facilitate the practice.
Students facilitating classes are able to earn SERVICE POINTS for their schools, and receive a CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE from OVIMA Global. All practice sessions are recorded.
